KEC Training & Development Program: Information
KEC
horses are trained in Saddleseat, Huntseat, and Western by
a qualified professional with a decade of training and show experience. Although we seek to promote the American
Saddlebred in all its diverse talents, we
also welcome any breed of horse for training. We will not take any horse that we feel our
training program will not help, at the discretion of KEC staff.(Referrals can be given in these
circumstances).Training is designed
after determining what your horse is best suited for, even within disciplines;
while keeping in line with your goals for your horse as well.
Our training fee includes
board as
well as training. Each horse receives up to 5
days a week in training sessions, and owners can receive up to 2 free riding lessons, depending on the purchased package. Our KEC staff provides for the complete care
of your horse, from feeding and stall cleaning to grooming and maintenance
clipping of your horse.Additional fees
may apply; including tail set maintenance, show clipping, and body
clipping.(Please see our KEC 2010 Fees
for more information).KEC training does not include veterinary
and/or farrier service fees.
KEC
horses are currently cared for by the veterinarians at Thomas Vet Clinic; as
well as Farriers:Roy Patterson and
Charlie Terrell.Although we are happy
to accommodate other veterinarians and farriers at KEC, while your horse is in
training here, you are welcome to utilize the same excellent care.KEC staff will see to it that appointments
are made for your horse, with the respective professionals, as needed. We would be happy to schedule chiropractic or
other equine professional work to be done with your horse, if advance notice is
given.KEC staff may even contact you if
we feel this type of professional work may be beneficial to your horse while in
training. You will not need to be
available during any of these appointments, although you will be notified of
them and are welcome to come if you wish.
KEC
training customers will be expected to provide for the seasonal needs of their
horse in training.This includes the
possibility of providing additional supplements as needed (i.e. electrolytes in
the summer and/or vitamins and minerals through out the year); as well as
providing the necessary winter blankets that KEC requires for each horse.(Horses in training through the winter months
may be in need of a full body clip – see KEC staff for further inquiries
regarding this – and therefore a winter blanket is mandatory).Since KEC does not offer laundering services,
KEC training customers will be asked to launder their winter blanket at most,
once a month.Fans and fly spray will be
provided in the summer months to KEC horses in training.
Short
term training is not encouraged, but it will be considered, so contact KEC
staff for further information.In
addition, stall board is not mandatory,
as we have several pastures available; although it may be necessary for
your horse at the discretion of the trainer.
