KEC Riding Academy

The KEC Riding Academy offers instruction in both English and Western riding, specifically in the Saddleseat, Huntseat, Western, and Dressage disciplines.  Our students start at age 5, and there may be weight and/or medical restrictions at any age, at the discretion of the KEC staff.  If you are unsure whether you meet the criteria for participation, feel free to contact KEC staff via phone or email.

Each student may choose as many disciplines as they would like to study and lessons are offered in either private and/or group format (2 or 3 students).  The disciplines are divided into three different levels based on the student’s skill and/or the amount of years the student has ridden; but placement is ultimately at the discretion of the instructor.

Lesson packages and families with multiple students are available at a discounted rate, and lessons are given Tuesday through Saturday.  4H club members will also receive a discount on lessons.  Please contact KEC staff for lesson times and availability.  The KEC Riding Academy is closed on Mondays.

Students are evaluated on arrival and are matched with KEC horses who are selected and trained to match a wide range of riding levels and disciplines.  KEC staff teaches with an emphasis on safety; as well as good sportsmanship, horsemanship, and of course fun!  We know students learn at a different rate, and while we encourage progression, we also ensure the student is well equipped before moving on.  (This may be challenging to understand for some of our more ambitious riders, but it is upheld in the best interest of safety for both horse and rider).  Students are not required to show; however, there are competition opportunities once the student has achieved the necessary skills and proficiency.

Experience is not required before beginning, as we will teach you all you need to know to get started!  Helmets and boots are required however; and although KEC can offer helmets and boots if needed, correct boot sizes may or may not be available, so check with KEC staff in advance.
